hear it in the stairwell: Guster: jesus on the radio...still
Yea! These are my two new roomies, Kristi and Amanda. And this is at the Over the Rhine Concert! We look so incredibly happy because we'd just eated at Campanellas, the cozy little italian place in downtown Cincy that Kristi and Ralph rave over. It was good, I'll admit. And although I didn't order my own tiramisu, I tried Kristi's and conceeded to its superiority over other desserts.
Pedro the Lion opened up for Over the Rhine-a quirky and relaxed two man band. I'd recommend checking them out. But it wasn't until the intermission before OTR took stage that I realized how exclusive the show would be. A stage hand casually walked out on stage carrying a large vase with a dozen red roses. My mind immediately assumed it was a romantic gesture between Linford and Karen in light of their recent tour sabbatical. A moment later a dozen other stage hands sauntered onto the stage carrying similar vases of red and white roses. Dozens of perfect vases with dozens of perfect roses covered the stage as Karen and Linford assumed their concert positions behind their mics and piano-Linford looking stunning in an eccentric tophat and black glasses. And the moment Karen opens her mouth the most impressive and inclusive voice I've ever heard escapes and Linford just watches her, in awe with the rest of us. They groove. We groove. Everything outside of the walls of the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati, Ohio withdraws.
And after the concert we frolick in the park across the street because all the trees are draped with white lights. Perfect.
Saturday Bryan and I had the Withers' kids most of the day so we headed to Boonshoft! Obviously Bryan and I just needed an excuse to go.
But I think the kids had a fun time, too. And after the museume closed, we spent over an hour driving around, trying to find a McDonalds with a playland. Seriously...over an hour. I think after about 6 McDonalds the kids convinced us that we didn't need a playland, Bryan and I would get enough enjoyment out of our Happy Meal toys. We settled for a playland-less McDonalds and buried our defeat in soft serve ice cream cones. The night was brought to an end with the Charlie Brown Christmas special and we successfully got all three kids to sleep:)
And that night it SNOWED! And being the born and raised Ohioan I am, I could not contain myself within the walls of my cozy apartment and miss the first good couple inches of snow! So we spent Sunday afternoon introducing Levi to the bliss of whiteness!
Again, I think Bryan and I just needed an excuse to be sledding like 2nd graders:)
I made a snow angel, Bryan tried his hardest to hit us with snowballs(horrific aim), Levi ate so much snow he peed every 5 minutes...and we topped off the evening bathing Levi into a pantene fresh puppy (and inevitably it rained the next day:))
A weekend complete.
