hear it in the stairhear it in the stairwell:Vroom, Guster, Jimmy Eat World
I woke up this morning around 10 a.m. when Levi's relentless face-licking finally became unbearable. I stumbled downstairs to let her out and retreated to the couch with my favorite blanket to finish "Say Anything" -Kristi and I had started it the night before. I visited with the roomies a while, had some breakfast and decided that since it looked so nice outside I would go walk/run Levi. I have not ran with my MP3 player in a long time-the only music I have on it are 4-5 Vroom songs because every time I would try to add new music it would seemingly go fine but after I left the house, earphones in place, it would always just be the same songs. But today was a new day...a new year even and I had faith that my MP3 player would realize this and accept new songs willingly. I went through the music library on my computer, chose some random Guster songs and sent them through my USB cable, safely onto my player. Maybe I shouldn't have been so surprised when, after the customary Vroom songs were played out, Guster came streaming through my headphones! It WAS a beautiful day out, I felt great as Levi and I ran through the neighborly streets of our hood with Guster blaring so loud I couldn't hear the barking of all the fenced dogs we were aggravating. I started making some mental notes of all the things I had experienced in 2003, good and bad. I was also thinking about all the opportunities I'm looking forward to in 2004...trying to start the new year off on the right foot by talking to God and getting priorities in order. I had somehow tuned Guster out for a few minutes until I caught the end of "The Airport Song" and when the next song began I realized that I'm not as technology savvy as I thought. Somehow a non-Guster tune had slipped into the mix and made its way onto my MP3 player and I was now running to the Granny Mix of Rapper's Delight (from The Wedding Singer Soundtrack). Sweet. I immediately began to laugh uncontrollably and I'm sure the people driving past thought I'd lost it. I kept running, now with new motivation and a HUGE smile on my face because I knew I'd be mortified if anyone around could hear what's streaming through my headphones. Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn. Great way to start the new year!
The New Year's party last night was pretty fun.
I'm not all about getting overly dressed up just to go and take pictures of being overly dressed to take pictures, but I complied and had a decent evening-dinner was good, Ralph was funny, dancing was entertaining (ask Phil to break dance for you), and being with friends was perfect.
My saving grace was that my like-minded Kristi was there to hang with:) We ended up leaving fairly early after the big drop and heading home to enjoy non-dressy fleece PJ's and a movie:) Welcome to 2004.
